Our work at a Glance

The Centre for Uplifting Sustainable Practices (CUSP) is a non-profit, non-political, and non-sectarian organisation established to advance inclusive, ethical, and regenerative development in Pakistan and beyond. CUSP is incorporated under Section 42 of the Companies Act, 2017, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), and authorised to receive local and international grants and donations in pursuit of its public interest mandate.

Founded on the belief that sustainable development must be grounded in dignity, equity, and accountability, CUSP works at the intersection of communities, institutions, and evidence. Our approach bridges research, policy engagement, and on-the-ground programming to address structural inequalities across education, health, livelihoods, climate resilience, and humanitarian response.

CUSP’s work is guided by a clear vision of a just and enlightened world where inclusive communities, ethical innovation, and sustainability shape human progress. We support individuals and institutions to make informed decisions, strengthen local capacities, and design solutions that respond to real social, economic, and environmental challenges. Our programmes are intentionally people-centred, prioritising women, youth, persons with disabilities, minorities, smallholders, informal workers, and communities affected by poverty, displacement, disaster, and climate stress.

Operating across urban, rural, and coastal contexts, CUSP combines locally rooted implementation with national and regional engagement. We collaborate with government institutions, civil society organisations, academic partners, donors, and the private sector to deliver work that is evidence-led, inclusive, and accountable to the communities it serves.

CUSP is governed by an independent Board of Governors and operates under a robust governance and compliance framework covering safeguarding, gender equality and social inclusion, data protection, financial accountability, and ethical conduct. All resources and surpluses are reinvested into mission-aligned work, ensuring that our focus remains firmly on public benefit rather than profit.

Who We Are

Our Story

CUSP was formed by a multidisciplinary team of researchers, strategists, facilitators, and community leaders with a shared vision of regenerative development. Our roots are grounded in Asia & Africa and our reach extends across regions where inclusive, just, and locally led development is both urgent and possible. We began with a desire to create more ethical, evidence-based, and people-centred approaches to systems change — and that commitment drives every project we take on today.

CUSP is a values-driven organisation working at the intersection of sustainability, inclusion, and innovation. We exist to build a world where dignity, equity, and resilience shape every decision — whether in the classroom, in local markets, or in national policy. From rural communities to digital ecosystems, our work is guided by one belief: that lasting solutions emerge when local realities meet global imagination.

Our Approach to Partnership

CUSP works collaboratively with a wide spectrum of partners — from local organisations and community groups to ministries, research bodies, and international donors. These partnerships are built on trust, mutual accountability, and a shared commitment to transformative outcomes. We believe that meaningful change comes from working across boundaries — between sectors, disciplines, and geographies — and from placing communities at the heart of every solution.

Why It Matters

Our work addresses the most pressing challenges of our time — from the climate crisis and gender inequality to economic injustice and failing education systems. But we do so with hope, not fear. CUSP exists to build practical, participatory solutions that uplift communities, inform systems, and inspire policy shifts that last. We are more than a service provider. We are a platform for sustainable success — where policy meets participation, data meets dialogue, and innovation meets justice.

How We Work

We listen deeply, act strategically, and stay grounded in context. Whether working with governments, civil society, or the private sector, we embed principles of inclusion, transparency, and systems thinking across all our work. Our methods are participatory, locally informed, and globally relevant. We centre gender and equity in every process, apply the “Do No Harm” principle rigorously, and design solutions that are scalable, adaptable, and community-owned.

Where We Work

CUSP operates across all provinces and territories of Pakistan and contributes to regional initiatives across Asia and beyond. Our past and current engagements include work in rural Sindh, urban Islamabad, post-conflict Syria, and cross-border agricultural programmes in Southeast Asia. We adapt our tools and methods to suit diverse geographies, climate realities, and cultural contexts — ensuring that every intervention is both locally relevant and globally aligned.
