In our small coastal village, CUSP emerged, dedicated to teaching the local community sustainable fishing practices. Over several months, workshops were held where experienced fishermen shared their knowledge on responsible fishing techniques, including methods to minimize bycatch and the importance of respecting seasonal limits for different species. Families gathered to learn about the rich marine ecosystem, fostering a connection to the waters that sustained them. The project empowered community members to adopt sustainable practices, ensuring their fishing activities would not deplete local resources for future generations. As villagers embraced these new skills, they not only enhanced their livelihoods but also cultivated a shared sense of responsibility for preserving their natural environment. The initiative led to a revitalized appreciation for the ocean and its bounty, transforming fishing from a mere livelihood into a communal effort rooted in stewardship and sustainability.

Private sector companies in Cambodia recently shared their experience with the CUSP team, highlighting how their expertise significantly influenced their understanding of peppercorn crop yield. The intervention facilitated a comprehensive analysis of both pre- and post-intervention benefits, allowing the company to identify key areas for improvement. Through tailored strategies and targeted support, the CUSP team learnt how optimizing agricultural practices directly impacted the crop yield. As a result, the private sector not only saw an increase in production, but also gained valuable insights into sustainable farming techniques that would ensure long-term success. This exemplified the vital role of expert intervention in enhancing productivity within the agricultural sector, demonstrating how strategic partnerships can lead to substantial growth and profitability.
